To say that I am proud is an understatement! Almost three years ago in January, I happened to make a post on Facebook, that it was the first time in 30 plus years that I never had a job to go to. Within one hour I received an email from Roland Andrews asking me if I would be interested in putting together a book, stories of our heritage! I never dreamed that I would be responsible for putting a book together!
I didn’t hesitate, I said yes! I made the plea on Facebook and received a number of stories from residents and former residents. And like I said at the beginning I am very proud to share with you that the book has been released!
When I made the appeal I stated that it would a book about “Our Stories Our Heritage” and that is the title. I want to thank Roland and the Port de Grave Peninsula Heritage Society for putting their faith in me to compile these stories.
A very special thank you to everyone who submitted their stories and also a very special thank to Sam and Pearl Dawe for donating Pearl’s collection of scrapbooks, 24 in total. These scrapbooks provided some very interesting stories.
Thank you to those who were involved with the editing!
